Today Sensei Shane went over three techniques:

Seio-Nage:
Standard throwing practice from a static position and while on the move up/down the mat.

De-Ashi-Harai:
Standard foot sweep drill from both a walking back/forth motion and while jumping back/forth. Remember to keep your hips straight while performing this drill.

Turnover With Uke in Prone Position:
This turnover is useful for when your opponent lays on their stomach in a prone position to defend themselves after a throw or while fighting in ne-waza. You lay across the opponent's back to form a "T", with all of your weight bearing down on top of them. I'll explain the technique using the opponent's right arm.

Start by grabbing the right elbow with one or both of your hands and pushing it out toward your opponent's head until there's enough room to get your hand right hand in. You can either push it out with your right hand, pull it out with your left hand, or use both hands - as long as it's moved toward their head. When you have enough room to get your hand in, scoop it under the opponent's arm and spin across their back until you're on the other side, keeping control of the arm and your weight low so you maintain control of the pin.

When you're on the opponent's right side move your hand up further and place it on the back of the opponent's neck/head area. With your left hand grab their pant leg and push with both arms to turn them over into yoko-shiho-gatame.

Two Finger Choke with Opponent in Prone Position:
Sensei Andrew also taught me a good way of getting a choke while your opponent is in the prone position. I'll explain this on the right side as well.

While your opponent is on their stomach in the prone position get on their back and bear all of your weight down on them. Put your left elbow on the right side of their head, clasp your hands together and move their head over to the left. This will give you just enough room to get your hand to the opponent's throat, usually only 2 fingers is enough.

With your left hand grab the fingers of your right hand and pull up to apply the choke.

Note: Be careful NOT to lean back while you've got someone in this choke or you may cause serious injury to their back/spine.
